Social Listening

Setting Up Social Listening

Add keywords and connect Google Alerts so we can track your brand across the web.

What Social Listening Does

Social listening watches the open web for mentions of your brand or any keyword you care about (product names, executives, campaigns). Every match is pulled in, deduplicated, and scored by AI for relevance and sentiment so you only see what matters.

Available on the Growth plan and above.

How It Works

For each keyword you add, we pull mentions from two sources:

  • Google Alerts — you create an alert at google.com/alerts and paste its RSS feed URL into the keyword. This is the primary source — it uses Google's full web index in real time.
  • Brave Search — runs once per day per keyword across the open web. No setup required from you; we handle it.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Open the Mentions tab in the sidebar.
  2. Type a keyword (your business name, brand, product, etc.) and click Add.
  3. In a new browser tab, go to google.com/alerts and sign in with any Google account.
  4. Type the same keyword into the alert box at the top.
  5. Click Show options, then set:
    • How often: As-it-happens
    • Sources: Automatic
    • Region: Any region (or restrict to your country)
    • How many: Only the best results (or All results if you want more volume)
    • Deliver to: RSS feed
  6. Click Create Alert.
  7. In the list of your alerts, hover the orange RSS icon next to the new alert, right-click, and choose Copy link address.
  8. Back in Dinopix, paste that URL into the RSS field next to your keyword. You'll see a ✓ Saved indicator when it lands.

How Soon Will I See Mentions?

A few things to expect:

  • Fresh alerts are usually empty for a few minutes to a few hours while Google starts crawling for matches.
  • For high-volume keywords (industry terms, common acronyms), first results often appear within an hour.
  • For niche brand names, it can take up to 24 hours before Google indexes a fresh match.
  • We poll your RSS feed every hour and pull anything new since the last check.

Reviewing Mentions

Each mention shows up as a card with:

  • Title from the source page
  • Relevance label — AI's guess at whether this is actually about your business: Relevant, Maybe, or Irrelevant
  • Sentiment label — Positive, Neutral, or Negative
  • Source domain and a link to open the original article

Use the filters at the top to narrow by source, relevance, or region (AU / US / UK / Other).

Notifications

You'll get an email and an in-app notification when a new Relevant mention lands. We cap notifications at 5 per keyword per poll to avoid floods on busy keywords. You can adjust notification preferences in Settings > Notifications.

Removing or Editing Alerts

To change the RSS feed for a keyword: just paste a different URL into the field and tab/click out — it auto-saves. To remove a keyword entirely, click the trash icon on its row. To delete the Google Alert itself, go back to google.com/alerts and click the trash icon next to it.

Wait, before you go!
