Facebook Permissions Explained

Why We Need Permissions

Facebook requires apps to request specific permissions for each type of data access. We request only what's needed for Dinopix Reviews to function. Here's every permission and exactly why we need it:

business_management

Allows us to discover which businesses and pages your Facebook account manages. Without this, we can't show you a list of pages to connect.

pages_show_list

Lets us list all Facebook Pages you have access to. This powers the page assignment feature in Settings where you choose which pages to manage.

pages_read_user_content

Allows us to read posts, comments, and reviews on your pages. This is the core permission that enables syncing your reviews and comments into the dashboard.

pages_read_engagement

Lets us read engagement metrics (likes, reaction counts, comment counts) on your page content. Used for analytics and the response rate metric.

pages_manage_engagement

Allows us to reply to comments and reviews on your behalf. When you write a reply in Dinopix Reviews and click send, this permission is what lets us post it to Facebook.

pages_manage_metadata

Lets us subscribe your pages to webhooks for real-time notifications. Without this, we'd have to poll Facebook periodically instead of getting instant alerts when someone comments.

pages_messaging

Allows us to read and send Messenger conversations for your page. This powers the Inbox feature and private reply functionality.

ads_read

Lets us read your ad accounts to discover comments on sponsored/boosted posts. Many businesses receive comments on ads that don't appear in regular page feeds.

instagram_basic

Allows us to discover Instagram Business accounts linked to your Facebook Pages. We use this to automatically connect your Instagram alongside Facebook.

instagram_manage_comments

Lets us read comments on your Instagram Business posts. This enables syncing Instagram comments into the same dashboard as your Facebook reviews.

Revoking Permissions

Revoking Permissions

You can revoke Dinopix's access at any time by going to Facebook Settings > Security and Login > Apps and Websites and removing Dinopix Reviews. You can also disconnect from within our app via Settings > Connected Accounts > Disconnect.
