Logging emails against a contact

Email a customer from Dinopix and keep a copy on their timeline.

How it works

Dinopix doesn't send your email. When you click a contact's email address, your own mail app opens with a hidden BCC already filled in. You write and send as normal, so the message comes from your real address with your signature — and a copy comes back to Dinopix and appears on that contact's timeline.

Nothing is recorded when you click. The timeline entry only appears once the message has actually been sent, so what you see is a record of what really happened, not what you meant to do. It usually shows up within a few seconds.

Set it up

  1. Go to Customers → Settings → Email logging.
  2. Copy your BCC address. It looks like crm-yourslug@dinopix.ai and is unique to your business.
  3. Choose whether links should open your default mail app or Gmail in the browser. You can change this any time, and it's remembered on that device.

If clicking an email opens the wrong application, that's your computer's mailto setting rather than Dinopix — switching the option to "Gmail in the browser" is the quickest fix.

Emailing from your phone, or later

You can BCC that address from anywhere — your phone, or a reply you send days later. Any email you BCC it on is matched to the contact with that email address. If the recipient isn't in your CRM yet, a contact is created for them.

What is and isn't captured

  • Captured: emails you send using the link on a contact, and anything you BCC the address on yourself.
  • Not captured: their replies. A BCC address can't receive replies — the recipient never sees it, so there's nothing for them to reply to.
  • Not captured: email you send without the BCC, including hitting Reply in your mail app later.

So the timeline shows what you sent, not the full back-and-forth. Capturing replies needs a forwarding rule in your mailbox, which isn't available yet.

Keep the address private

Your BCC address is a secret, like a password. Anyone who has it and is on your allowed-senders list could write entries into your timeline. Don't publish it on a website or put it in an email signature. If it ever leaks, regenerate it under Connections → ProductReview → Regenerate — note this changes your ProductReview forwarding address too, so update that forwarding rule as well.

If an email doesn't appear

  • Check that it actually sent, and that the BCC was still on it — some mail apps drop BCC when you edit a draft heavily.
  • Your own address has to be on the allowed-senders list for your business.
  • Give it a minute. Mail delivery isn't instant.

Wait, before you go!
