How It Works
Trustpilot has no setting for sending notifications to an extra address: its review emails go to the people who have a login on your Trustpilot account. So unlike ProductReview, where you add our address as a recipient, Trustpilot works by forwarding those emails on.
Each of your businesses has its own Trustpilot inbox address, shown under Connections > Trustpilot > Inbox settings. Anything forwarded to it arrives as a review.
Setting It Up
- Open Connections in Dinopix, find the Trustpilot card, and choose Inbox settings.
- Copy the address. It looks like
trustpilot-xxxxxxxx@dinopix.ai. - In your mailbox, create a rule (Outlook) or filter (Gmail) that matches mail from Trustpilot and forwards it to that address.
- Add the mailbox you forward from to the approved senders list in the same dialog.
Use a rule rather than account-wide forwarding, so the original stays in your inbox and your team still sees every review. The step-by-step for both Gmail and Outlook, including the Gmail verification code, is in Forwarding Reviews Without Losing Your Copy.
What Gets Captured
- The review: reviewer name, star rating and the text they wrote
- The real date: a review is dated when it was written, not when you forwarded it, so sending a backlog through does not stack it all into today
- A link back to the review on Trustpilot, for replying
- Sentiment, so negative reviews surface first, and email alerts the same as every other platform
Forwarding the same email twice is safe. Dinopix recognises Trustpilot's own review ID, so it updates the review rather than creating a duplicate.
Replying
Trustpilot's reply API is only available on their higher plans, so Dinopix drafts your reply and you post it. Write or generate the response, hit Save & Copy, then use Reply on Trustpilot to open the review with your text on the clipboard. This is the same flow as ProductReview.
Reviews From Before You Connected
Only forwarded reviews arrive, so your Dinopix average would otherwise reflect a handful of recent ones rather than your real score. Under Inbox settings, the Trustpilot historical ratings box takes your current rating breakdown: how many 5-star, 4-star and so on, read from your Trustpilot profile. Enter it once and your average covers every review.
Your Dinopix average may still differ slightly from the score on Trustpilot. Trustpilot's TrustScore weights recent reviews more heavily, while Dinopix shows a straight average.
If Reviews Stop Arriving
- Check the rule still exists. Mailbox rules get switched off when passwords change or staff leave.
- Check the address you forward from is still on the approved senders list.
- Look for held messages in the Inbox settings dialog. Mail from an address we do not recognise is kept there rather than thrown away, and you can approve the sender to release it.
