Getting Started

Connecting TikTok

Connect your TikTok account to bring comments on your videos into Dinopix, reply to them and hide spam, and understand what TikTok does and does not allow.

What It Does

TikTok does not have star reviews. What your customers leave there is comments on your videos. Connecting TikTok brings those comments into your Dinopix inbox next to your Facebook and Instagram comments, grouped by video, and replies you send from Dinopix are posted under the comment on TikTok, as if you had replied in the TikTok app.

TikTok is included on every paid plan. It works with TikTok Business accounts and personal accounts.

Connecting Your Account

  1. Open Integrations > Platforms in Dinopix with the right business selected.
  2. Choose Connect account on the TikTok card.
  3. Sign in to TikTok if asked, check the account name on the consent screen, and approve. Leave every permission ticked. Dinopix needs all of them to see and answer comments, and will ask you to connect again if one is missing.
  4. You land back in Dinopix with a confirmation. Comments on your recent videos start importing straight away.

Dinopix asks TikTok for your account name, your list of videos, and permission to read, reply to and hide comments. It cannot post videos, change your profile or read your direct messages.

Each business connects one TikTok account. To switch to a different account, disconnect the current one first.

What Gets Captured

  • Comments on your recent videos, imported when you connect, including replies other people have left in those threads
  • New comments within a few minutes of being posted
  • The video each comment is on, so the inbox groups a video's comments together and AI suggestions know what the comment is about
  • Hidden comments, whether you hid them or TikTok filtered them, which are kept but marked as hidden

Your own replies are not shown as comments. When you reply to a comment in the TikTok app, Dinopix marks that comment as answered.

A comment deleted on TikTok is removed from Dinopix too.

Replying and Hiding

Reply from the comment in Dinopix as normal, or start from an AI suggestion. When you send with Post to TikTok ticked, the reply appears under the comment on your video. TikTok replies can be up to 1,200 characters, and Dinopix posts one reply per comment.

A posted reply cannot be edited. TikTok does not let apps change a reply once it is posted, so the comment shows Change it in TikTok instead of Edit and Delete. To change a reply, delete it in the TikTok app and reply again there.

Use Hide on a comment to hide spam or abuse from your video. Hiding in Dinopix hides it on TikTok, and Unhide brings it back.

Auto-reply does not cover TikTok. Every TikTok reply is written or approved by someone on your team.

Disconnecting

Choose Disconnect on the TikTok card in Integrations > Platforms. Dinopix stops receiving comments and removes its access to your TikTok account. Your imported comments and replies stay in Dinopix unless you tick the option to delete them. Reconnecting the same account later picks up where it left off without duplicating anything.

You can also remove Dinopix from inside the TikTok app under Settings and privacy > Security > Manage app permissions. If you do, disconnect TikTok in Dinopix too.

Troubleshooting

  • TikTok shows as locked: TikTok is on paid plans. Upgrade under Settings > Billing
  • "Dinopix needs every permission": a permission was unticked on TikTok's consent screen. Connect again and leave them all ticked
  • "This business already has another account connected": disconnect the existing account on the TikTok card, then connect the new one
  • "TikTok needs you to reconnect the account": access was removed in the TikTok app, or has not been used for a year. Disconnect and connect again
  • A new comment has not appeared: give it a few minutes. Dinopix also checks your newest videos for missed comments on a regular schedule
  • Older comments are missing: the first import covers your most recent videos. Comments from then on are all captured
