When to merge
Merge when two listings are genuinely the same physical location. The usual case is one shop that exists on both Google and Facebook and therefore arrives as two listings.
Do not merge two different shops because they share a name. Merging is how you get one row per place; it is not a way to tidy up a list.
Use this when the same physical location appears more than once, for example its Facebook and Google listings.
Keep this listing
After merging, you keep:
Sydney CBD Store (Google)
These details carry across:
- Phone: 02 9000 1234
- Postal code: 2000
How it works
Open the merge action on the listing you want to remove, then choose the listing to keep. Before you confirm, the dialog shows you exactly what the result will be, including which details will be copied across.
- Reviews, conversations and platform connections move onto the listing you keep.
- Blank fields on the kept listing are filled from the one being removed. Nothing already filled in is overwritten.
- The merged-away listing is then removed.
The preview is there because this is the step that has gone wrong for people before. Read it rather than trusting the button.
Which one to keep
Keep the listing with the connection you rely on most, usually Google, since it typically carries the most reviews. The kept listing keeps its own name and details, so pick the one that is already correct.
After merging
- Your listing count drops by one, which can free space against your plan cap.
- Dashboard and Analytics totals do not change, because no reviews were removed. They were moved.
- Both platforms keep syncing into the single kept listing.
Can it be undone?
No. Merging is permanent, which is why the preview exists. If you are unsure whether two listings are the same place, check the street addresses before you merge rather than after.
