How Order Statuses Are Normalised

Why a Shopify order marked fulfilled shows as completed here, what each shared status means, and how automation reads them.

The Problem

Every platform names order states differently. Shopify says "fulfilled", WooCommerce says "completed", and a manually entered order might say anything at all. If Dinopix showed each platform's raw wording, a business running two stores would see two names for the same thing.

The Shared Vocabulary

Every order maps to one of six statuses, whatever its source:

  • pending: awaiting payment or action
  • processing: paid, not yet shipped
  • completed: fulfilled and delivered
  • partially fulfilled: some items shipped
  • cancelled
  • refunded

How They Map

Partial shipmentpartialpartially fulfilled
Cancelledcancelled / failedcancelledcancelled

Automation Isn't Affected

Review requests trigger on the delivery timestamp, not the status wording, so normalising the display never changes when an email goes out.

Enquiries Are Separate

Web form submissions create cases, which have their own lifecycle. They never mix with order statuses.
