By default Dinopix sends your review requests and surveys with your business name, and customer replies go to you. With Surveys Pro you can send them through your own email provider instead, so they come from your own address and count towards your own sending reputation.
Dinopix works with SendGrid, Mailgun, Postmark, Amazon SES, Resend and Brevo. Your mailbox over SMTP, and Klaviyo or Mailchimp, are coming later.
Before You Start
- The address you'll send from must be verified with your provider, as a single sender or on a verified domain. Your provider won't send from it otherwise.
- Create an API key that can send email: SendGrid's Mail Send access, a Mailgun sending key, a Postmark server token, a Resend or Brevo API key. For Amazon SES, an IAM user's access key with permission to send, and an account that's out of the SES sandbox.
Connect It
- Go to Customers > CRM Settings > Email sending and choose Connect a provider.
- Pick the provider, enter the from name and address, any region or sending domain it asks for, and the key. Choose Save and send a test.
- Dinopix sends an email to you through your provider, from that address. When it arrives, enter the 6-digit code in it. It may land in spam the first time.
Only then is the connection Verified. Nothing goes to customers through it before that. The code lasts 30 minutes and you get 5 tries; after that, send a new test.
If you change the key, the from address, the region or the domain later, it needs a new test, and sending through it pauses until you enter the new code.
Choose What Sends Through It
- A survey: open it in Surveys, and in the Email card set Send from. Each survey chooses for itself. Follow-up replies to that survey's customers go out the same way.
- Review requests: in CRM Settings > Reviews & NPS, set Send review requests from. Review requests that Trustpilot sends for you don't go through your provider.
Your unsubscribe link, the one-click unsubscribe header, your reply-to address and the rule about how often a customer is emailed all stay the same, whichever provider sends.
When It Stops Working
Dinopix never quietly switches back to sending from its own address. If your key is revoked, your address stops being verified, or your provider pauses your account, the connection shows Needs attention with the reason, on the Email sending page, on the survey and on the Integrations page, and:
- Automatic emails wait. Orders that become due are held, not dropped, and go out once the connection works again.
- Sending to a contact yourself shows the reason instead of sending.
- An email that does fail is listed with its reason in CRM Settings > Sent.
If your provider is briefly limiting how fast you send, or is having an outage, the automatic emails it refused are tried again on the next run. Emails you send yourself aren't retried: send them again later.
To fix it, update the key or settings, send a test and enter the code. Or set Send from back to Dinopix email.
Your Key
Your key is encrypted as soon as it reaches Dinopix and is only ever used to send your email. It is never shown again: you'll only see its last four characters. Only owners and admins can see or change the connection. Removing it deletes the key from Dinopix; it doesn't change anything in your provider account. A connection that a survey or your review requests still use can't be removed until you choose another sender for them.
If Surveys Pro Ends
Anything set to send through your provider is sent by Dinopix email instead, and your connections stay until you remove them.
